RF Tutorial by KarMIC Design
Venue: PG Lab, Ground floor, Academic Block 5, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal
Date: 10thAugust 2019 (Saturday)
Overview of the RF System- Transmitter and Receiver sections: Radio Frequency (RF) is the study of systems over a wide higher frequency range. What is the reason for operating at high frequency? A typical RF system involves a receiver and transmitter sections and its imperative to understand what compromise the basic building blocks of these systems to further appreciate the applications in various fields like Communications - cellphone, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth; Radar - defense, self-driven cars. |

Complex Gm-C filters for RF: Complex filter is a frequency shifted band pass or band stop filter by using imaginary and real components of the input signal. The tutorial will discuss the need for frequency transformation, architecture, and circuit realization of complex Gm-C filters used for applications like Blue-tooth, ZigBee. |
Dr. D. V. Kamath, Professor, Dept. of ECE, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal |
Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) circuit design and Cadence simulation:Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) is one of the basic building blocks in the Receiver section of an RF system. The design of this block is critical as it takes the input signal directly from an Antenna. Tutorial intends to discuss the design methodology briefly and implement a single ended source degenerated LNA and simulate the parameters: input and output impedance, S- parameters, gain, noise, linearity, and stability. |
